Cayman Islands Too Strong for Guyana in RAN 15s Clash

Guyana’s national rugby side were unable to contain the power and precision of the Cayman Islands, falling to a 48–17 defeat in their Rugby Americas North (RAN) 15s encounter on Saturday at the National Park in Georgetown.

The visitors made an early impact on April 26, with Doran Bryce crossing the line in the 9th minute, though Alexander Claybourn was unable to add the extras. The Cayman Islands maintained their momentum, and Zachary Brooks extended the lead with a second try in the 15th minute, this time successfully converted by Claybourn.

Guyana struggled defensively throughout the first half, and although Desbert Robinson managed to respond with a try, the scoreline at the break told the story of a one-sided contest, with the Cayman Islands firmly in control at 31–3.

The second half offered slight improvement from the home side, but the Cayman Islands added a further 17 points to seal a commanding victory.

Guyana will be hoping to regroup ahead of their next fixture, when they face Barbados away on May 17.
