Grandmaster Samy Shoker will deliver a special lecture on Friday, sharing insights from his journey to the top of the chess world with members of the local chess community.
The session forms part of the Egyptian Grandmaster’s three-day visit to Guyana, which also featured a Simultaneous Exhibition at the Giftland Mall on Wednesday. Shoker took on some of Guyana’s strongest youth players in an impressive display of tactical skill and composure.

Hosted by the Guyana Chess Federation (GCF), the event highlighted Shoker’s passion for promoting the game globally. Born in France and representing Egypt, he has competed at the highest levels, including the Chess Olympiad, and is widely respected as a coach and educator.
