Guyana clinch mixed doubles gold at CASA championships

Guyana closed the Junior Caribbean Area Squash Association (CASA) Championships in style, with Louis Da Silva and Avery Arjoon securing a hard-fought gold in the Mixed Doubles on Wednesday night in the Cayman Islands.

The duo edged past Barbados’ Luke Wilson and Eboni Atherley 2-1 (11-8, 8-11, 11-10), ending the tournament on a high after Guyana missed out on medals in both the Boys’ and Girls’ Doubles finals.

The victory added to a strong showing earlier in the week, where the Guyanese contingent claimed eight individual medals. Kaylee Lowe, Da Silva, and sisters Alexis and Avery Arjoon each struck gold in their respective singles categories. Lowe and the Arjoon sisters dominated their finals in straight sets, while Da Silva battled through a gripping five-set thriller to win the Boys’ Under-19 crown.

Silver medals went to Zion Hickerson, Ethan Bulkan, and Justin Ten Pow, while Tehanie Munroe staged an impressive comeback to win the Girls’ Under-13 Plate final.
