Guyana’s national rugby union side, the ‘Green Machine’, take on Barbados on Saturday evening in their second international fixture of the year, as the Rugby Americas North (RAN) Men’s XVs tournament continues.
The match will be played at the historic Garrison Savannah in Bridgetown and Guyana seeks to bounce back from a heavy 48–17 home defeat to the Cayman Islands in April, a result that exposed gaps in their defensive structure and raised questions about consistency in their set-piece execution.

But the Guyanese side goes into the fixture with confidence, having won six of their seven previous meetings with Barbados in official Test matches.
Renowned for their free-flowing, athletic brand of rugby, the Green Machine will be hoping to recapture the attacking spark that once saw them crowned RAN champions, with experienced players expected to step up in key positions.
Barbados, meanwhile, has developed a more structured, forward-oriented style of play in recent years. Their tactical discipline and improved fitness have made them increasingly competitive in the region, particularly on home soil.
The two sides last met in 2018, when Guyana emerged 34–26 winners in a closely fought contest in Georgetown. Since then, both squads have seen considerable turnover, with an emphasis on rebuilding through youth and local development.
Kick-off is at 7:00 p.m.
