Guyana concluded their campaign at the 2025 CARIFTA Games in Trinidad and Tobago in 11th place, securing one gold, one silver, and three bronze medals—a decline from their 2024 performance, where they finished fourth with a total of eight medals, including four golds.

As the lights dimmed on the 52nd edition of the region’s premier youth athletics meet, held at the Hasely Crawford Stadium in Port of Spain, Jamaica once again dominated proceedings, finishing atop the medal table with 78 medals in total—30 gold, 27 silver, and 21 bronze. The Bahamas followed in second place with 16 golds as part of a 37-medal haul, while hosts Trinidad and Tobago claimed third with 25 medals, including nine golds.

Guyana’s showing this year was hampered by several challenges, including a late registration that ruled them out of the mixed 4x400m relay and a costly baton exchange in the men’s 4x100m relay, which affected their final standings.

The standout performance for Guyana came from Tianna Springer, who claimed gold in the Under-20 400m. Malachi Austin added a silver in the same age group and event, while Attoya Harvey secured bronze in the Under-20 1500m. Ebo McNeil earned bronze in the Under-17 3000m.

In the field events, Trevon Greene clinched bronze in the triple jump with a personal best of 15.50 metres, placing him behind Jamaica’s Chavez Penn (gold – 16.14m) and Michael-Andre Edwards (silver – 15.66m). Fellow Guyanese athlete Duel Europe finished 11th in the same event.

Guyana sent a 42-member contingent to the regional competition.
