Guyana will once again play host to the region’s top road cyclists as the Independence Three-Stage Cycle Race is confirmed for May 17–18.
The prestigious two-day event will feature three gruelling stages across the country, with the full route details expected to be released, by the Guyana Cycling Federation (GCF) in the coming days.

Last year’s race saw a dominant performance from local star Briton John, who stormed to victory in all three stages to win the overall title. John will likely return to defend his crown against a strong international field, including returning contenders such as Trinidad and Tobago’s Enriques De Camarand, and top Guyanese riders Cortis Dey, Joryn Simpson, and Robin Persaud — all of whom rounded out the top five in 2024.
The competition spanned a demanding route, beginning in Corriverton and ending in New Amsterdam for Stage One. Stage Two took riders from the Berbice Bridge through D’Edward Village to Carifesta Avenue in Georgetown, before culminating with the third and final leg from Linden to Homestretch Avenue.

The race, which coincides with Guyana’s Independence celebrations, serves not only as a showcase of athletic excellence but also as a test of endurance, strategy, and national pride.
More details, including stage profiles and rider line-ups, are expected shortly.
