Omari Glasgow off the mark for Chicago Fire

Omari Glasgow opened his goalscoring account for Chicago Fire on Tuesday night, finding the net in a memorable 4–0 win over Detroit City FC in the US Open Cup Round of 32.

The 21-year-old struck in the 71st minute at SeatGeek Stadium, capping off a dominant display from the MLS outfit – a personal milestone in his early Fire career.

Glasgow joined the first team in December 2024 after impressing with Chicago Fire II in MLS NEXT Pro. He made a handful of short-term appearances last year and has featured in all four of the club’s MLS regular-season matches so far in 2025 — starting once and coming off the bench three times. The Guyanese forward has steadily grown into his role and his April 6 goal was a clear sign of his rising influence.

On the international stage, Glasgow is already a standout. He is Guyana’s all-time leading goalscorer, netting 17 times in just 26 appearances for the Golden Jaguars.

His performances in 2024 earned him the CONCACAF Nations League Golden Boot as well as the Young Player of the Tournament award — both firsts for a Guyanese player.

As Glasgow continues to develop at club level, both Chicago Fire and Guyana will be hopeful that this is just the beginning of a prolific chapter for the talented forward.
