The Victory Valley Royals are now the top basketball team in Guyana, having clinched the One Guyana Premier Basketball League title with a composed and disciplined run through the tournament. The Linden-based side defeated defending champions Ravens in back-to-back games to lift the trophy, drawing praise from GBF president Michael Singh for their dedication from start to finish.
After edging Ravens 74–70 in Game One on Thursday, the Royals wrapped up the series on Saturday night with a 78–71 victory in Game Two at the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall in Georgetown. Harold Adams led the charge with 31 points, while Orlan Glasgow added 17.

The result sees the Royals end the season as the country’s top team, overcoming both Georgetown’s leading sides and the reigning champions to cement their status.
“This team, apart from winning the One Guyana Basketball League, is the Guyana Basketball Federation’s most disciplined team. While others may have approached the Federation for various requests, the Royals from Game One stuck to their game plans, travelled the Linden/Soesdyke Highway nightly to compete with Guyana’s best clubs,” said GBF president Michael Singh in his social media post.
He added: “They have now solidified themselves as the number one seed in the GBF standings and I’m sure will continue to be an inspiration to both LABA and other teams locally.”
