Strong line-up for Barbados and beyond

The Guyana Table Tennis Association (GTTA) has named its Senior and Next Generation squads ahead of a busy competitive calendar, including the highly anticipated Caribbean Senior Table Tennis Championships, which will take place in Barbados from June 16 – 22.

Leading the line-up is Olympian Chelsea Edghill, who continues to be the standout figure in Guyanese table tennis on the international stage.

The squads announced reflect a balance of experienced veterans and emerging young talents. In a bid to enhance international competitiveness and performance, the GTTA has confirmed that both team-based and individualised training programmes will be implemented in the run-up to the championships.

The Senior Men’s squad features several of the country’s top-ranked players, spearheaded by Shamar Britton and seasoned campaigner Christopher Franklin. They are joined by the dynamic Jonathan Van Lange, who also appears in the Next Gen squad, alongside Elishaba Johnson, Nigel Bryan, Joel Alleyne, Niran Bissu, Miguel Wong, and Levi Percival.

In the Senior Women’s squad, Edghill is joined by a strong supporting cast including Natalie Cummings, Jasmine Billingy, Thuraia Thomas, Michelle John, Priscilla Greaves, Samara Sukhai, Akira Watson, Angela Robinson, and Shakecy Damon.

The Next Generation Boys’ squad highlights the GTTA’s commitment to youth development. Alongside Van Lange, the line-up includes Krystian Sahadeo, Malachi Moore, Colin Wong, Umar Percival, Salih Rahim, Chad Outar, Aaron Hopkinson, Travis Lyken, Akel Hall, Akeem Hall, Kayden Meusa, Rensford Beaton, Zamani Johnson, and Abinora Johnson.

On the Girls’ side, the Next Gen squad showcases promising young players such as Jasmine Billingy, Samara Sukhai, Akira Watson, Angela Robinson, Shakecy Damon, and Seona Barker.

With the Championships just weeks away, preparations are already in full swing. The GTTA is prioritising a structured training approach, with players expected to undergo high-intensity sessions designed to sharpen technique, strategy and mental resilience.
